Captain
Welcome back. Where would you like to focus?
Jack is in week three of the current 12-week plan. The Cornell intro is approved and ready to send, the highlight reel is queued for refresh after this weekend's footage, and the Colgate questionnaire reply is due this week.
Three angles I'd suggest tonight:
  • Talk through the spring showcase shortlist before you commit travel.
  • Walk the Cornell intro one more time before it goes out — there's one phrasing change worth considering.
  • Or ask me anything about NCAA timelines, prep school dynamics, or where Jack's level actually puts him.
Next: Pick one of the suggestions below or type your own question.
When should we realistically start visiting campuses? Jack is a 2027 sophomore.
Captain
For a 2027, the first real visit window opens this fall.
Per NCAA D1 men's hockey rules, official visits begin August 1 before the player's junior year — for Jack, that's August 2026. Unofficial visits are allowed at any time, but they don't carry the structured access (sit-down with coaches, locker room tour, full meeting set) that official visits do.
My recommendation for Jack:
  • Schedule one or two unofficial visits this spring — Cornell and Colgate are the obvious candidates given the conversations we've started. Treat these as look-and-feel visits, not commitment moments.
  • Reserve the heavier official visit slate for fall 2026, after the USHL Phase II look. By then we'll know which programs are real, and we won't burn visit weekends on schools that have cooled.
  • Brunswick's spring break is the easiest time to package two visits into one trip — worth checking the calendar tonight.
If you want: I can pull the campus visit shortlist and propose a spring trip itinerary with travel logic.
